What are voice disorders?
At ENT London, our ear, nose and throat doctors deal with a wide range of voice problems, ranging from sudden loss of voice (aphonia) or loss of range or huskiness, through to patients with voice disorders related to defects in the movement of their vocal cords, caused by weakness or paralysis, vocal cord polyps, Reinkes oedema or vocal granulomas.

Therapeutic treatment for voice problems
ENT London runs a dedicated "Voice Clinic", working in conjunction with a Voice/Speech therapist specialising in ENT voice disorders. Therapy for voice problems includes a combination of lifestyle guidance, an understanding of the vocal mechanism and a patient specific programme of voice therapy designed on an individual basis
These highly skilled and experienced voice therapists also assist our ear, nose and throat doctors to treat patients who require a medical approach to their voice disorder.
Surgery for voice problems
Where voice disorders are not amenable to voice therapy techniques or where such approaches have not been helpful ENT London are able to offer phonosurgery to physically correct certain voice problems. In patients with vocal cord paralysis this may involve surgical techniques to augment the cord by injecting material into the tissues.
