Vocal Cord Polyps
Vocal cord polyps are a common voice problem, which may require the attention of an ear, nose and throat doctor. This voice disorder is caused due to the formation of benign growths on the vocal cords, because of repeated vocal use. Over a period of time, continuous use of the vocal chords can result in swollen spots on each vocal cord, which might soon grow into harder and larger growths called nodules. A vocal cord polyp can lead to serious voice problems. Polyps are usually larger than nodules, and appear in different shapes like small bumps, stalk-like growths, or blister-like lesions. They may manifest on either vocal cord, or both of them.

Voice therapy for treating such voice problems generally involves direct voice treatment, stress reduction techniques and practice of good vocal hygiene.
